At Green Gables we strive for children to 'be the best they can be' and find that early assessment of basic skills such as speech and fine motor skills can help achieve this.  By identifying areas needing special attention or simple refinement we feel can make this possible for each child so, as part of our service we arrange for relevant professionals to visit each year.  

From 9am on Monday 4th February, Sonia Bestulic from Talking Heads Speech Pathology will be visiting Green Gables to conduct speech and language screenings.  The screenings are approximately ten minutes per child and will monitor the development of;

• Receptive Language
• Expressive Language
• Speech Sound Development
• Voice
• Fluency

If you would like Sonia to do an initial assessment of your child then please print and complete the permission form below or complete one available at the sign in counter.  If you are unsure then please discuss it with your child's teachers.  If your child doesn't attend on Mondays you are welcome to bring them in especially for the screening session (you/someone must stay with them) or do an extra day (we have 5 places available that day).

Please place completed permission forms in the communication box (silver box on the wall by the sign-in counter) by Tuesday 29th January.

Kate is another star performer and managed to complete her 12 month Traineeship with us in under 9 months.  Kate's high quality written work made her a top achiever amongst her fellow students with her supervisor offering praise and samples of her work for all to read.

Kate now holds a Certificate III in Children's Services and intends to further her studies and enrol in a Diploma course in the very near future.

We're very lucky to have Kate as part of our team.  Her maturity and professionalism are great assets as is her sincere love for the children under her caring wings.

Last year Tania and Melissa were 2 of only 8 people accepted into a Government sponsored program offering a fast-track qualification.  They spent 6 months with their heads down, studying hard to achieve their new qualifications - Diploma of Children's Services.  They sacrificed precious time with their friends and family and the course was far more taxing then expected.  But... through dedication, hard work and their vast years of experience to call on they both managed to complete this unimaginably huge task whilst still working 40 hours a week - amazing.

Melissa and Tania are delighted to be working together in the Preschool room this year along with Kate.  Their combined knowledge and collaborative skills promise a fantastic year ahead and we wish them all the best.  We thank them for their ongoing efforts and commitment to Green Gables and your children.  Staff like this are what keep the standards at Green Gables so high and maintain our reputation as a stand-out place for early childhood education and care.
