Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have just updated our Incident, Injury, Trauma and Illness Policy. The revised policy is on display on the Parent Info Wall and will also be emailed to you. Please read through it and provide us with your thoughts, questions or suggestions using a Policy Feedback Form (available in the Parent Feedback Folder under the sign in counter), or via email. FYI - here is the latest update to the NSW Immunisation Schedule (December 2013).
For more information about Childhood Immunisation please click on this image and you will be redirected to an entire brochure on the subject. Throughout the year, please remember to bring us updated immunisation information for your child (when they have their 4 year old injections). Happy reading. Dear Parents and Friends, With the recent release of Staying Healthy in Child Care 5th edition (our go to source for anything relating to health and hygiene) we have updated our policies. Many have not changed apart from the source information but our Nose Wiping Policy contains a procedural change. Previously educators were required to wear gloves for wiping noses. With the review, gloves are now optional but of course hand washing afterwards or the use of an alcohol-based rub is necessary. We are very interested in your feedback so please use a policy feedback form from under the sign in counter. The revised Policy is currently on the parent information wall and will be sent via email shortly. Kind regards, GGK To coincide with Dental Health Awareness Week we thought we'd give you this link for information on how to care for your child's teeth - to access it simply click on the title box below. It is also available (with many other health fact sheets) on the Children's Hospital at Westmead website http://kidshealth.schn.health.nsw.gov.au/fact-sheets If you'd like information on other health topics in English or any other language we'd be more than happy to source them for you. We are also reviewing out Dental Health Policy this month. Please view it on the Parent Information wall and provide feedback via email of by using a form from the 'Parent Feedback' folder located under the sign in counter. Dear Parents,
Please be aware that a case of chicken pox has been reported today. The infected child usually attends on Monday and Wednesday. Below is an information sheet detailing the symptoms to look out for, the exclusion periods associated with the disease and more. If your child has an unexplained fever and a clear, runny nose it may be best to err on the side of caution and keep them home for further observation. Important to know is that children that have been immunised still may contract an active case of chicken pox but the infectious period will be dramatically reduced. Pregnant women should take particular care to avoid exposure to this illness. Thanks for reading, Green Gables Girls Dear Parents,
Recently we have been experiencing a high number of parents arriving at or after 5:30pm to collect their children, and in some instances seeking to hold conversations with staff on a variety of matters. Please note that Green Gables closes at 5:30pm and staff expect to be able to leave at this time. Accordingly children must be signed out and have left the premises by 5:30pm each day. During drop off and pick up times, it is difficult for staff to hold detailed conversations with every parent. If you would like to have a brief chat with any staff member, please arrive allowing enough time, or alternatively we invite you to schedule a time to meet and discuss whatever is on your mind. This way we can devote to you our full attention, without potentially diverting staff's attention to the children. To refresh your mind, below is an extract from our Parent Handbook (page 8) "COLLECTING YOUR CHILD LATE – LATE FEES The door is locked at 5:30pm sharp each day. If for some unforeseen reason you think you will arrive late to collect your child please contact us as soon as possible or try to arrange for another authorised person to collect your child. Late fees are something we try to avoid using and rather encourage parents to respect and appreciate that staff have worked hard all day and deserve to leave on schedule. By regulation at least two staff members must stay with your child until you collect them so out of respect please do not arrive late. Green Gables Kindergarten reserves the right charge parents $10 per 5 minutes or part thereof for any child being collected after closing time. This will be itemised in you fee statement and charged in the next fortnightly payment." From Monday 2nd July, we will be enforcing this policy. |
