[email protected] [email protected] Dear Parents and Friends, With so much happening over the next few weeks we thought a summary may be helpful so you and your children can be as prepared as possible. Here goes... 13th March - Wednesday - Crazy Hair Day - a registered event for the World's Greatest Shave. Sponsor us by clicking on the icon below. 13th March - Wednesday - Cadbury Fundraiser Chocolates delivered - collect these from the office, sell them in time for Easter and help raise money for our back shed and new outdoor equipment. We're aiming to raise $2000 so are hoping for everyone's support. 14th March - STEPS vision screening - free vision test for children aged 4 and over. Please complete a permission slip for your child to be included - available at the sign in counter. 22nd March - Friday - Uplift Project bra collection ends. Click on icon below for more information but essentially they collect new and used bras to send overseas to less fortunate women. They are particularly interested in MATERNITY BRAS IN ANY CONDITION. Please add them to the pink wheelie bin in the office. 18th-22nd March - Multicultural Morning Tea Week - a registered event for Harmony Day. To celebrate the cultural variety that is Australia we will be hosting morning tea from a different culture each day (more details below). The morning's curriculum will be inspired by the culture of the day so if you would like to be involved please email the classroom teachers. 18th-28th March - Chicken Hatching Program - children will observe chickens hatching from eggs and experience them with all senses. The preschoolers will also tend to the chickens needs in preparation for some remaining with us as Kindy pets. 28th March - Thursday - Easter Hat Morning Tea - make an Easter hat (bonnet) at home with your children and wear it to the morning tea. We are also hoping to have a special hopping visitor to deliver some yummy Easter treats. Children not usually attending on Thursdays are welcome to participate under adult supervision. 29th March & 1st April - CLOSED for the Easter long weekend 7th May - Tuesday - Mother's Day Morning Tea - a chance for mums and other significant ladies to come and be pampered by their children. Put this in your diary now. Children not usually attending on Tuesdays are more than welcome to attend under adult supervision. Help your child get the most out of everything by talking about the experiences at home. Please send in in any interesting questions or comments they have so we can include them in our curriculum planning. We've now registered our Crazy Hair Day as an official fundraising event for the World's Greatest Shave - an annual event that supports Leukaemia patients. Support us with as little as $2. Simply click the icon on the left to make an online donation and support this worthwhile cause. Any parent volunteers for head/beard shaving? Any hairdressers with some spare time that morning? GREAT FOR EASTER A TREAT AT WORK A FEW FOR THE CUPBOARD FOR A RAINY DAY SELL TO NEIGHBOURS, FRIENDS, FAMILY, AT THE PARK... On Wednesday 13th March we will take delivery of 100 boxes of chocolate!! This is just in time for Easter and our goal is to sell every last bit of chocolate that was ordered within 28 days (by 8th April). We're expecting them to sell like hotcakes during the pre-Easter weeks and if we sell . We aim to raise $2000 to put towards children resources, especially some outdoor equipment to enhance and compliment our beautiful yard. Selling all the chocolate will mean over $2000 Please collect your box next week so you can play your part in keeping the environment stimulating for your children. There's enough for one per family but feel free to take two or come back for a second. There is a wide selection of chocolates, so come to the office, see Ari or Nikki and take your PICK! At Green Gables we strive for children to 'be the best they can be' and find that early assessment of basic skills such as speech and fine motor skills can help achieve this. By identifying areas needing special attention or simple refinement we feel can make this possible for each child so, as part of our service we arrange for relevant professionals to visit each year. From 9am on Monday 4th February, Sonia Bestulic from Talking Heads Speech Pathology will be visiting Green Gables to conduct speech and language screenings. The screenings are approximately ten minutes per child and will monitor the development of;
If you would like Sonia to do an initial assessment of your child then please print and complete the permission form below or complete one available at the sign in counter. If you are unsure then please discuss it with your child's teachers. If your child doesn't attend on Mondays you are welcome to bring them in especially for the screening session (you/someone must stay with them) or do an extra day (we have 5 places available that day). Please place completed permission forms in the communication box (silver box on the wall by the sign-in counter) by Tuesday 29th January. All children aged 4 and over are entitled to a free vision screening.
